Business Spotlight-Edible Picasso
The Vacation Homeowners of Cape Charles are proud to highlight the amazing small businesses that make Cape Charles so special. We hope you enjoy reading the back story of Lenore and Rocco, plus their business adventure with Edible Picasso.
Rocco and I first vacationed in Cape Charles in 2012 for our very first “blended” family vacation. We never heard of the town but it checked all our boxes, less than 7 hours from NY, had houses large enough to fit our large family, and was affordable. We found a house on VRBO and alas our love affair with CC started. We came back many times and watched the market begin to change. We bought our first house in 2017 as a vacation home and it took us less than 6 months to realize we wanted to live here full time asap. I worked remotely with my corporate job in marketing and we had Love + Rosemary, mainly a wedding catering company, headed by Rocco. We decided we could relocate Love + Rosemary to Virginia and initially were seeking a property that could be a new wedding venue. The Universe works mysteriously and thankfully our efforts to purchase a property as a venue did not align…usher in Covid not long after! So, we bought a house on Tazewell more suitable for year round living for our family and held on to our first Cape Charles house and turned it into a vacation rental-The Jay House. Since then we moved a third time! Like Goldilocks, we needed to find the perfect fit and we found it outside of town in the neighboring town of Eastville. Fast forward to 2022 when the company I worked at for 16 years was purchased and it was time to think about my second professional life. Food was always a passion for me and I had started Edible Picasso, charcuterie to go, as a side business the year before to fill that passion. Rocco found the space and inquired about it and then took me down to 10 Strawberry Street to ignite the flame. His experience coupled with my need to do something completely different from my last career, was the start of Edible Picasso Cafe. Love + Rosemary continues to grow in Virginia along with a strong presence that remains in NY and Edible Picasso Cafe opened on January 4, 2023. It has been a wonderful experience so far. We have a saying anytime someone says what brought you to Cape Charles?
